3 Important Things To Know If You Are On The Cusp Of Change

So, you want to see big changes in your life. Perhaps you want a new love interest, creative outlet, home, job, or radical change of career. A little jarring but true, you can pretty accurately gauge your ability to create the experiences you desire most by your answer to the following simple, but oh-so powerful question:

Are you willing to do whatever it takes – no matter what?

I know this well because it is a conversation I have every day with clients and prospective clients that come to me requesting guidance and support creating the life-changes that on their most core levels, they want and need.
Invariably during these types of exchanges, it becomes apparent that the energy and consciousness of the individual in question, much like waves on the shore, are ‘breaking’ against the invisible boundary that separates their current life from a potential new one brimming with possibility, adventure, and untapped potential.

If for some time you have been taking inventory of your life situation and have been becoming increasingly aware of a growing restlessness within, you would have probably already begun to notice that your discomfort levels rise as you question and ever so slightly test the edges of your current known limits and comfort zone. This occurs because you have already started feeling into an expanded awareness of the new ways of being, doing, responding and thinking required to bring about your desired inner and outer change.

It is not uncommon when you are on the cusp of change for you to feel like you are caught in an internal game of tug of war. It is part of your innate wiring that the unknown will often trigger a reaction of fear. In as much as you want to step fully into and embrace the unknown, your primal survival mechanism, that exists purely to keep you safe within the confines of what you already know, SO wants to kick in.

The only problem is that what you already know and have always done has run its course and holds no chance of helping you create your desired radical life-change.

So how do you circumvent the fear that arises when you are at a crossroads between the future and the past?
You connect into and honour your deep TRUTH.

With your basic needs of food and shelter taken care of in today’s modern society, this is a relatively more highly evolved sensibility that you now have the luxury of consciously choosing to create from (rather than the more base, primal hunter-gatherer instinct to merely physically survive).

As you connect into and honour your deep TRUTH, here are 3 important points to consider when on the cusp of change:

1. You are not only growing more aware of your inner creative flow but of yourself in an intricate dance with the universal creative flow around you as well

You are energetically, mentally, and emotionally moving fluidly between the micro and macrocosms of new opportunities that exist as a result of your role as a vital agent of change. You are dancing here with the rest of creation as your awareness of how universal intelligence wants to express through you as your particular life situation grows.

2. In order to thrive and continue to evolve and grow, you must uphold your deep commitment to your journey of self-growth

The silent but strong pull to leave behind your allegiance to the mindset and comfort zones of the status quo can trigger a feeling of guilt – that your path is different – that loved ones aren’t ‘ready’ to embrace quite the same magnitude of adventure and change you are longing to bring in. Remember that each person is walking their own unique path. Because this kind of guilt is so subliminal, it can easily become a barrier that severs you from precisely the new experiences you want to create.

3. Taking an honest inventory of your skills, unique perspective, message, and sacred contribution is the only sustainable and authentic way to step out into the world

Once you’ve accepted that the life-path you must walk is unique and there will probably be moments along it where you have no one but yourself to rely on and believe in you, you realize it is imperative that you gather your resources into a “sacred bundle” of sorts. The process of putting your sacred bundle together is a metaphor for giving yourself permission to let go of all of the identities, patterns of behaviour, and beliefs that are not aligned with your truth, in order that you might embody more of your real, potent, magnificent Self. Some of the non-negotiables that must be included are self-validation, responding to life from a place of inherent worthiness, and believing unwaveringly in yourself, your irreplaceable role in the bigger picture, and the gifts that on so many levels, you absolutely MUST share. Ultimately, becoming fully self-actualized means being willing to consistently become aware of, explore, and release any tendencies to diminish yourself and play small.

There is no doubt that calling in radical life-change is scary. Being brutally honest with yourself about your soul-level needs however, does not have to be a deadly serious affair. If you are on the cusp of change, it is entirely possible – and indeed advisable – to reframe your outlook from a perspective of adventure, enthusiasm, and fun. Giving yourself permission to gracefully and intuitively ride the waves of expanded self-awareness is exactly how you unleash your full magnitude, inner power, and self-trust.

Oftentimes, these two things are more scary than the idea of change itself:

  • The inborn knowing that you are much bigger and more capable than you have ever given yourself credit for, and
  • The need to fully claim this power so you can become your most authentic Self.

Marianne Williamson so beautifully captured this sentiment in “A Return To Love,” one of my favourite books of of all time;

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Giving yourself express permission to keep questioning and intuitively testing the boundaries of your current comfort zone is what helps you build the confidence necessary to embody your untapped magnitude, greatness, and potential in ever greater ways. This is the same as honouring your most natural tendency as a conscious, sentient being that consistently needs to master new challenges and achieve new goals in order to happily, radiantly, and abundantly thrive.
